My disability and me, a conversation with Phil Angus - watch the video
Over 14 million disabled people live in the UK, yet many still face barriers in their daily lives which are not caused by their disability, but by a lack of education and poorly-provisioned environments which have failed to adapt to accommodate diversity.
Our Business Resource Group (BRG), AccessABILITIES, hosted a first-of-its-kind event in July with long-serving Marsh colleague, Commercial Head of Service, North, and AccessABILITIES Co-Chair Phil Angus, who discussed his disability and how it impacts him daily, including what his journey from Liverpool to London that day involved.
Phil has prosthetic legs and – for only the second time ever – wore shorts to the event to visually expose his disability. Phil chatted to Steve Woodhouse, Marsh McLennan’s UK Regional People Leader, who supported Phil by wearing shorts on the day too.
Phil has rarely been asked about his disability or ability to attend professional events and travel for his day job, so this conversation shone a light on the reality of having a disability compared to how it could be perceived.
